With both International and local travel available again and with the kickoff of a new soccer season, after months of missing out fans can once again enjoy more of the action.

To offer fans an opportunity of a lifetime, Cadbury partnered with five of the top English Football clubs including Arsenal F.C., Chelsea F.C., Liverpool F.C., Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to bring South Africans closer to all the soccer action.

The #TasteTheAction campaign*, which runs until 31 October 2020, gives fans the chance to win one of three VIP legendary travel experiences and exciting weekly prizes simply by buying two of their favourite participating Cadbury products**. Choose between a premium trip to the UK (including a VIP soccer experience – T&C apply) for 3 soccer fans and partners or a local holiday that offers the winner and three friends the opportunity to ‘live like legends’ in Camps Bay, Cape Town. All prize trips to be redeemed in 2021 (T&C’s apply dependent on travel restrictions at the time of travel).

To set the scene, Cadbury asked five top English soccer legends to weigh in on why getting closer to the action is a prize worth winning for sporting and travel fans alike.

Match Day – Why the hype?

For Arsenal F.C. legend Ian Wright the excitement starts from the moment you get up.  ”The journey to the stadium, meeting fans along the way and then once you get into the stadium and you start seeing the build-up and the fans are singing and then the game starts –  it’s a magnificent experience.”

Chelsea F.C. legend, Michael Essien agrees the atmosphere and excitement created by a stadium full of fans and your team mates on the field is unbeatable.

”English football is considered  some of the most exciting in the world and rightly so – with the history of the clubs, the different styles of football employed by each team, the quality of the players and managers and the competitive nature – nothing compares,” added Liverpool F.C. legend Michael Owen.

South African and Manchester United legend Quinton Fortune continues, ”I love the game of football and playing for Manchester United has been the highlight of my career. Old Trafford is a world class stadium and the atmosphere both watching a game and playing on the pitch is something else. Match day is the ultimate – fans singing your name, the roar there’s nothing like it!”

Tottenham Hotspur legend, Gary Mabbutt sums the experience up perfectly, ”Every time you walk out onto the pitch during a match the atmosphere is amazing. Looking around at the fans and the stadium is phenomenal, no matter who you support the experience is just filled with every emotion possible.”

Some top tips when visiting the UK

Wright gives a shout out to one of his favourite pubs, The Cow in Notting Hill for visitors to the UK.  ”You also have to visit top tourist spots such as Tower Bridge, Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace, Carnaby Street, Oxford Street, Portabella Road market and then if you are an Arsenal F.C. fan you have got to visit the outside of Highbury the former Arsenal football stadium, I’m so proud to be part of the history.”

Essien also suggests the London Eye as a top spot for visitors and for shoppers Sloan street is an excellent place to visit.  For Chelsea F.C. fans ‘The Bridge’ being the home of Chelsea Football Club is a priority.

Mabbutt adds, ”While a tour of a football stadium like the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is a must for any visit to the UK, exploring London itself is exciting.

A trip to the UK wouldn’t be complete without visiting all the top stadiums available and Owen also recommends a definite detour North West towards Liverpool. ”There’s something for everyone here – whether you are wanting to experience culture, music, football or hit the shops.”

For Fortune Manchester has his heart, “For all South African fans my tip is to visit Old Trafford, it’s full of so many stories and history and when you can,  experience a MU game live!”
