Bathu celebrated the successful launch of their walk your journey series at Market Theatre
Johannesburg on the 15th of June 2021. This country wide mentorship programme is aimed
at equipping aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs with fundamental knowledge to enable
them to enhance the sustainability and growth of their of their businesses.
The programme initially kicked off with a social media call out for innovators and
entrepreneurs to share their business stories to stand a chance of being part of the

BathuWYJSeries mentorship programme.

“As a potential catalyst of the township dream, we are on a mission to inspire the youth
though the transfer of business skills and knowledge as we build entrepreneurial resilience
and impact South African youth businesses in a positive way,” says Theo Baloyi, CEO &
Founder of Bathu.
The selected mentees were hosted by the vibrant radio presenter and actress Khanyi Mbau
followed by an insightful keynote speech by the very first employee of Bathu, Theo Baloyi.
As the excitement in the room was just about to reach its peak after hearing from the CEO of
the most admired sneaker brand in Africa, the mentees were then treated to a panel
discussion comprising of industry champions Nicolette Mashile, Precious the planner as well
as Tumi Phake.
“We are excited to embark on this journey as we continue to amplify our brand promise to be
of service to the people and communities that support our brand. Walk your journey is
merely just an expression but a promise we aim to keep as we take our series to the
different provinces across the country in the upcoming months” concluded Baloyi.
Furthermore the brand announced the inception of the school care project which is to launch
on the 17th June 2021. The purpose of this initiative is to reignite hope and assist 100 000
underprivileged children by February 2022 to walk their educational journey in comfort as
they go to school in their brand new pair of Bathu school shoes.
The school shoes will not be for sale but a gift that serve as symbols of confidence, dignity
and hope for the recipients. The first handover will take place at Dr Knak Primary School in
Alex where adjusted alert level 3 regulations will be followed.
